THE PAYNE PRINT & SIGN STORY

Payne Print & Sign is a 100% local, family owned and operated print and signage company, which has serviced the Mackay, Whitsundays and Coalfields communities for over 47 years.

Payne Print & Sign is the dream of Tom Payne, which continues to be brought to life by his family and dedicated staff. Mastering his printing and signage craft in Toowoomba, Tom, his wife Grace, and their young family were drawn to the Mackay area in 1970. A few years later, Tom established Payne Print, and with it, a lifelong passion and dedication to the art of fine printing.

When doors opened, Tom’s equipment consisted only of a second-hand guillotine and a Platen Letterpress printing machine. It was not uncommon to see Tom toiling through the night to ensure the highest standard of excellence, something Payne Print & Sign continues to pride ourselves on.

In early 2018, Payne Print expanded into the sign industry acquiring an established signage business and renamed to be formally known as Payne Print & Sign. This decision has proved to be a highly successful one with our capabilities growing exponentially now covering all facets of offset and digital printing and large format signage.

Payne Print & Sign is truly a family affair and our reputation quickly grew throughout Mackay, the Whitsundays and Coalfields regions, with our high-quality of print, signage and design work truly speaking for itself. Emerging mining companies were amongst the first to take notice, clients who have remained loyal to our company and are amongst our biggest clients today.

From simple beginnings, Tom Payne has consistently followed an ethos based on hard work, honesty and outstanding printing service. He continued to hone his craft, ensuring Payne Print & Sign was at the fore of printing technology, while also maintaining old-fashioned attention to detail and customer service. Though Tom has now retired, he maintains an active interest in the business. Each and every member of the Payne Print & Sign team (all in all there are 30) share Tom’s vision for the company. They are the heart of Payne Print & Sign. With enthusiasm and commitment, we consistently produce high-quality print and signage work for the Mackay and surrounding community.
